How to make Mozzarella and Pepperoni Pizza Rolls
Preheat the oven to 230°C (450°F), then line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a small bowl, combine the crushed tomatoes with the garlic powder, oregano, balsamic vinegar, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper until the sauce is smooth.
In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, Parmesan cheese, sugar, and salt.
Add the cold butter and rub it into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs.
Gradually pour in the milk, then mix until a soft, pliable dough forms.
Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to form a roughly square shape.
Spread the tomato sauce over the dough, then add the pepperoni and basil, followed by the mozzarella cheese, which should be evenly distributed.
Roll the dough tightly into a long cylinder, then transfer it to the baking sheet.
Place the cylinder in the freezer for 15 minutes to make it easier to slice.
Slice the cylinder into strips, then arrange them on the baking sheet, leaving space between each strip.
Gently press down on each roll, then sprinkle with a little Parmesan or mozzarella cheese, if desired.
Bake the rolls for 12 to 15 minutes, or until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly, then serve warm with marinara sauce or pizza sauce.
